BRINK 64A: expo/shop/events
From November-December 2024, I created a temporary cultural spot in an old monumental building at Brink 64a in my hometown Deventer. Here you could find:
- an exhibition of my work
- a pop-up shop with books, cards & small prints by me + other photographers (including Jennifer Drabbe, Jens Masmann, Chris Finnegan, Ellen Mandemaker & more)
- activities — all related to the theme of the exhibition: ‘EVERYTHING IS ALREADY THERE – the everyday as an endless source of inspiration’. This included a movie night where we showed the film ‘Perfect Days’ by Wim Wenders and a cyanotype printing workshop by Henri Blommers.
- a café with coffee & buns by KoffieDok, served by Anke, every Saturday.
With my work I invite you to look the world differently. What do you see if you ignore the context in which something normally exists? I find the most beautiful details in things that usually go unnoticed. Beauty in what is. The creative process is another theme that is important in my work. Ever since leaving my lawyer’s practice a couple of years ago, I have been discovering more and more what it is like to let myself be led by intuition, curiosity and joy. I published a book about it, called ‘Play’, about play as an attitude to life (which was nominated for the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards).
